Amok Time’s Blacula… at last.
First announced way back around 2008? Released in 2013! Worth the wait?
Well, it’s cool to have a Blacula figure but it is very much a toy of 2008.
The head sculpt is pretty neat (shame they abandoned the plan of the two extra sculpts) though his skin tone is an off shade of orange and the paint application by today’s standards is fairly basic.
Costuming – again pretty nice for 2008… but those functional buttons are too big and fat and a tad on the awkward side when it comes to un/re-dressing him.
The body. Oh dear. It’s a substandard (even for ’08) Sideshow/Majestic ‘Buck’ body… what’s more the hands/forearms are one solid piece (i.e. no wrist joint) and on mine one was stuck fast, a bit of glue-sloppage it seems and while trying to unstick it, first a finger flies off and then his forearm snaps off. Heh, wait over 5 years for a figure and he breaks within the first 5 minutes of ownership. Oh joy. Short neck and silly, silly little feet too. Fortunately I was always going to rebody him onto something more poseable so I wasn’t annoyed as I probably should have been.
Overall, an average kinda figure… but a fun addition to the line-up here.
