Preserved Dunedin City Transport trolleybus No. 43 in Featherston

Scanned from the Christina Little collection, a view showing the 1954 British United Traction trolleybus after being towed out of the doorway of a shed in Featherston in the early 1980s (c.1984), and which Ian Little had got the lease of to store his trolleybuses in his attempt to start up a museum trolleybus system in the township.
The view is to illustrate that at that point the only trolleybus overhead he had managed to erect was inside the shed, and that is about as far as things got in Featherston as his plans were not greatly received by some of the townsfolk and the local council.
But all was not lost, as eventually Ian Little was invited to set up a trolleybus system in Foxton in lieu of a failed attempt to set up a small tram system in the Horowhenua township.
The rest, as they say, is history.
