I was a tad overzealous with the random orbit sander, getting the slightly-poking-over thin edge of the rabbet flush with the face of the long front plank here. To make the rabbet cuts in the front and back edge of the left and right walls, as seen here, I used my Incra Miter 3000 sled from Woodpeckers, and kept moving the cut in by 1/8" widths – the kerf of the blade I’m using – and then backed off a bit on the last cut, and eased in to it in 1/32" increments, which are easy with the stop on the Incra toothed track.

Once flush, I went one more 1/32" so they’d stick just a bit over the plywood, so I could sand them flush later, as above. This face will have a 3/4" slab of poplar over it entirely as the drawer front, so the oversanding won’t be noticed.
