All feet on the floor, it stands a bit like a dog I know. Now to put a finish on it (mostly just to make glue spillage less likely to stick; it’s not furniture) and make the planing stop — or, more precisely, decide whether I’m going to bother straightening the mortise for the planing stop or just live with it. Decisions, decisions. It’s otherwise usable as-is.
I’m pleased with the outcome. Learned some new techniques, cleared some storage space, used up some scrap I’d kept too long, got a useful object out of it. Plus I rather enjoy looking at it, there’s something pet-like about it, as I mentioned above. I think it would wag its tail if it could.
