This is actually just one high chair, but I took two photos of it with the alternate cushions. This high chair was one of my tenth birthday gifts in 2001. Mom and Dad bought me a wooden table from the Mill Stores that year. But Dad did make me something himself. Bitty Baby was an ENORMOUS part of my life at the time. I took her literally everywhere with me. I had everything a "mother" required–a stroller, a car seat, a makeshift changing table, bottles, bibs, etc. Since I didn’t have a high chair, I’d put her in the car seat. I refused to "feed" Bitty "solids" if she wasn’t fastened into it. I also always used to take the disposable bibs from McDonald’s for her. She’d "eat" with us whenever we’d stop in for a meal. Dad made the high chair itself, just as he had with Molly and Addy’s beds years before. The cushions were sewn by my grandmother, who lived with us at the time. Memere and Dad must have collaborated on this present together. It was clever the way they attached the cushions. Dad used little metal push pins (I only put one in for the photos, but there are supposed to be four altogether). That way, the cushions would stay securely in place, but I could still change them out (plus, I can wash them separately which is SO handy). The Precious Moments fabric was my favorite, but the last one I used must have been the garden one (it was still on the high chair before I cleaned it up as an adult–sadly it is stained despite being laundered a few times). It’s so special having this high chair that Memere and Dad made for me. I love having a little piece of them and their creativity for my dolls. It also means even more to me because this was custom made for my prized Bitty Baby–she’s one of the most sentimental dolls in my entire collection. She deserved to have her very own high chair!
