After hollowing out the interior compartment of the ring box (see previous photos in this series), I am now working at the table saw, removing some of the material from the top, right down the middle where the sliding lid will be.
After hogging out nearly 1/4" of the material thickness, I will take it over to the router table and use the dovetail bit to smooth out the surface I’m working on here while also cutting the dovetail angle on the inside lip of the box.
Once that part is complete, I will apply the dovetail angles to the lid while cutting it to just the right width to slide through the body of the box.
