Sixpack Projects is proud to present CONSTRUCTIONS & EXCAVATIONS, an exhibition of painting and sculpture curated by Jeff Rau, highlighting recent bodies of work by artists Jonathan Anderson and Nathan Huff. Though differing somewhat in their choice of subject matter and conceptual approach, the work from these independent projects reveals overlapping concerns with the nature of language, representation, and memory.

“Open Storage” is an invitation for artists to use D-Block Projects as storage facility and exhibition space for artworks that were being stored in their studios and out of view of the public’s eye. This exhibition draws upon the “open storage” trend found in several museums where storage facilities are opened to the public to see the otherwise private existence of stored art. The open storage experience removes the historical context of works and instead displays work based on the size, logistics of storage and the availability of space.

is a Long Beach, California based artist that specializes in Pop Culture Collage Art. She has used mediums ranging from Canvas, Cigar Boxes, Furniture (Tables, Chairs, Stools, Desks, etc), Hand Bags to even Surf Boards. She has had multiple artist showcases throughout Southern California. And has had her artwork featured in print media publications throughout California. RVW is steadily establishing herself in the ever growing LA art scene. Look for upcoming art showings and a line of Collage Hand Bags soon to be released.

EFREN LUNA
is an Artist, Art Curator, Art-and-Music show organizer, writer, and philosopher. He studied Art at the schools of art at LBCC (AA Degree in Art) and CSULB (BFA in Drawing and Painting). He has been actively creating and promoting the arts. His curatorial work combines group exhibition which include site-specific installation and live music.

Some of Efren Lunas works are mixed media works "Social Structure and Economy 1&2 ", 2006 main focus is on economic structure and the financial powers and even a reference to the media and its influences. The physical objects placed on the canvas are materials that relate to the lower end jobs in society. They works include a piece of brick, wood-shavings, asphalt, wood and warehouse materials like plastic ties and ropes that reflect the construction jobs that represents the workers who have to do this labor-intense job and even the day-labor workers. To represent the other spectrum of economic structure is a rolled up newspaper section of the business news pasted on the canvas. Right on top of it is a $100 dollar bill to signify and emphasize the mover/shakers of the the economy investors/companies who make or take a bigger piece of the pie or the disparities in the fruits/returns.
A sculpture made mainly from 3 found objects a lamp, hammer, and broken fan. It’s covered with melted plastic bags and tarp/asphalt covers these objects that become one. This artwork merges three unrelated objects. This sculpture is made from discarded objects that were picked up from a trash dumpster. The broken fan and lamp could be related to fast or mass production "made in china" and the effects it has on the labor in America a product that breaks and is discarded as cheap replicas wait at Wallmart. The hammer represents construction jobs and cheap labor jobs in America. These three objects are merged and become one object that is camouflaged and visually morphs to a unique 3d piece. This piece references cheap labor in America and in other countries as the effects of mass production and globalization.

Our shows thus far have been very successful in bringing people together. The shows combine live music and art shows. AMC uses any available venue, be it gallery, studio, open space, coffee shop, bars, nightclubs, warehouses, or empty retail stores. In this sense, AMC is in constant motion bringing spaces to life through our collaborative efforts and perhaps transforming such spaces and in the process bringing the cultural arts to diverse audiences.

The exhibition "Video: Recycled" will present the work of artists who find ways to “reuse” or “recycle” film and video material that was presumably made for a different intention. The digital nature of video and photography makes it effortless to copy, integrate and collage content from multiple sources. "Video: Recycled" will address the malleability of video and appropriation in the context of the moving image.
Participating artists include Sara Ching-Yu Sun, Bill Domonkos, Bryan Konesky, Beth Leister, Kelly Sears, Aaron Valdez, and Angie Waller.
