With an empty steel train in tow, English Welsh & Scottish Railways maroon and gold liveried Class 66/0, No. 66231 approaches Cardiff Central on the 25th August 2006.
Whilst it was (and still is easy) to take the Class 66 for granted, a number have been sent abroad, and are unlikely to be seen on UK shores again. This was one such loco. at the time of uploading, it was working in mainland Europe, being based at Alizay, in France.
At the time of uploading, Freightliner were looking to send at least three more of their Class 66/5’s to Poland, so after decimating the popular locos of the 1955 modernisation plan, the Class 66 was now short of work, and were to go abroad instead. Doesn’t seen quite right somehow!
