More from the bathroom remodeling. The house was built in 1876, but the bathrooms were added much later (we’re now guessing as late as 1955).

This bit of roof is actually inside the house, in the space between the upstairs bathroom and the rest of the house. The wood on the left is the lathe for the wall of the bathroom, and the dark wood in the background shadows is the new roof covering this space. The shingles are old wood shingles covered in decades of old dust, and plenty of brand new plaster and wood dust from the demolition.

With spaces like this to play in, it’s no wonder that bats have loved our house over the years…
