and I took a road trip last week looking for a few photo opportunities and one of the places we stopped was San Miguel, California.
It’s a small community along HWY 101 and one of the things in town that has interested me, and made me stop in the past, is an old grain elevator and feed building.
I hadn’t been able to see inside before but this time a couple of doors were open and while wandering around the back side along the train tracks I was able to take a look in one of those doors. There were some cool looking masks and assorted carvings that I thought made a couple of interesting shots, needless to say I did my best from the doorway.
As we went to the front of the building I went inside and talked to a man sitting by a desk and asked if we could take a look around as there was a guy working with wood. He let me know that the boss was out and he didn’t feel comfortable letting us in (liability and such). Anyway he did tell me that they used reclaimed barn wood to make furniture and wood art, and I noticed that there was quite a bit of rustic old wood inside as well as woodworking tools and a few projects about.
I will make it a point to stop by there in the future if we get back up that way, looked pretty interesting inside to me.
