Trip to the Mercer Museum, Feb 2008. The museum, completed in 1916, houses the collection of archeologist Henry Chapman Mercer. Mercer knew that certain technologies (for example, candle making, horn carving and whaling) would disappear, and wished to archive samples of their work and the tools used to create them while they were still available.

It’s an eclectic hodge-podge, but is a fascinating visit. The building itself is notable, as one of the first large-scale uses of rebar-reinforced concrete in the world. Strongly recommend a visit if you happen to find yourself near Doylestown, PA.
