The Locomotive "Leviathan" and her Lincoln Funeral Train consist are decked out in the trappings of official state mourning as they prepare to re-enact the passage of the Lincoln Funeral Train through Elizabethtown, PA on a portion of its historic route from April of 1865.
All of the equipment seen here was constructed by Mr. David Kloke and his staff over the past 10 years. The train includes the locomotive "Leviathan", an 1858-vintage coach and the replica of the Lincoln Presidential Car. All of the equipment is now owned by and resides at the Stone Gables Estate. Those visiting the Star Barn, on the property of Stone Gables Estate can see an aerial photo of the property, depicting plans for a larger railroad presence. Eventually, the current 6/10ths of a mile of track will expand to over 3 miles as the Stone Gables Estate re-creates an 1860s-era railroad, complete with water tank, train shed and turntable. An additional day coach and combine are planned additions to the collection of rolling stock. In the near future, it is expected that the locomotive will be re-lettered for the Pennsylvania Railroad. This new operation will be called the Harrisburg, Lincoln & Lancaster Railroad. Although it is not intended to become a conventional tourist railroad, it will be featured in public events that the site holds, and may also participate in private events.
