Amerigo Vespucci

A magnificent tall ship, commemorating the greatest Italian explorer, merchant, and cartographer since Venice’s own Marco Polo, docked on the Riva Schaivoni last summer

The Vespucci sails out of Livorno. She was built in 1930 in the style of a three-masted, 74-cannon ship of the line, displacing 4146 tons, and 331-feet at the water line. According to the books, she is the world’s only remaining three-decked square rigger. Onboard woodwork and detailing is stunning. She flies only canvas sails and hemp ropes for the sake of authenticity. The winds must be happy.
