A small schoolroom chair and footstool from my childhood, sitting quietly in a corner of my father’s house.
The chair used to be paired with a similarly child-sized desk. The bangku or footstool was my grandmother’s, and was usually beside her chair by the front door where she could survey the passing neighbourhood.
