This ‘new project’ had not progressed for some months. Although planned as a 1/76 London tramway layout I had decided to include a (very short) working tube line under the baseboard. Although this was acheived – there’s a video of the train running in this album – the difficulties involved in simply putting the train on the track led to me deciding that the Underground line will be dispensed with.
Rather relieved at making that decision I have been able to make some progress on ‘boxing’ the boards, providing a proscenium arch presentation.
I’ve never done this before but I find the effect pleasing and hopefully useful in protecting the layout during transit.
I can’t say that I have enjoyed the woodwork though – I never do.
But most of the structural stuff is now done and before long I hope to be able to start on the layout itself.
The trackplan is already designed and drawn out full size on a piece of cardboard, and the baseboards are designed to fit into the last remaining space in my workroom……
