I had the worst experience at Lowe’s. I will never go back. I am FOREVER…a Home Depot Girl. (*Sorry this is a long one. I had to vent)
Ok…:Steps on soapbox & clears throught: JUST BECAUSE I AM A GIRL DOES NOT MEAN THAT I DO NOT BELONG IN A HARDWARE STORE!!!!!!! :steps down almost in tears:
I want a computer/sewing desk and cannot find one the size/dimensions that I need so I decided to design and make it myself. I went to Lowe’s to see what kind of ideas I could get prior to doing the actual design. I saw they carried MDF, which is what they use in ALL the home improvement shows on HGTV, took measurements and made mental notes regarding design. I decided, I shall go with MDF.
If you’ve ever worked with MDF, it is rather bland, unfinished and ugly. Not pretty like natural wood. So I realized I need to paint or stain this desk of some sort. So I go…naturally…to the paint department & asked what kind of paint do you use on MDF. The 3 idiots behind the desk looked at me as if I asked how to properly BBQ a baby. Then they started to mumble amongst themselves. I didn’t get a clear answer and I called them out. "That was a bunch of mumbling. I still don’t know what to use. You didn’t answer my question." Blonde & boy idiot look at the brunette idiot like she is head idiot. Then the boy idiot turns into helpful-lad and tryies to get brunette idot to answer my question. She proceeds to mumble and says she can’t answer because she was too busy. PISSED ME OFF but helpful-lad walked around with me and read lables (which I could have very well done) and was still as confused when I left the store as I was prior to asking my question.
I leave, plan out the desk and DECIDE TO GO BACK!!!! Impatient I went back and had the lumber idiots cut the MDF for me. I do not own a home therefore I do not have space for powertools. Which would be the reason I asked them to cut it for me. They acted like I was asking them to build me a houst in 7 days. I took measurements and spelled out EVERY cut on the blueprint. I asked them if my plans were easy to read and he said yes. It was 1 sheet of MDF. It took them 2 sheets to cut what I needed. Needless to say I only paid for 1 sheet in the end.
i get to the register, light on. Which traditionally means the lane is open. I ask the other cashier if the lane was open and he said she stepped away & would be right with me. Then the guy she was talking to walks up to the registers, enters a code in the register, scans something on the desk, mumbles something like he’s crazy, then a phone rings in his apron. he answers it and…WALKS AWAY!!!! I look for the girl cashier and she is ringing up 2 other people on a register with NO LUMINATED LIGHT!!!! I throw my hands up and I turn to the helpful cashier, "Is there a manager on duty!!!" I screeched like a spider monkey. He let me jump in line and I was fuming. I ranted about the Idiot cashier and apologized for taking it up on him. He told me the idiot boy wasnt working on the register, i aksed why he hadn’t told me that when he walked up and mumbled just 1 minute prior. Then idiot boy hears me bitching about him and says all smart ass like, "I wasn’t working the register." "Then why didn’t you tell me that when you walked up to the register like a cashier rather than mumbling something and walking away?, I barked at him. He felt stupid and walked away. The helpful cashier checked me out and I asked for a manager…The bitch kept me waiting. She was just as much of an idiot as the rest of her employees. No customer service skills. As i’m finishing up my conversation with her, who walks up and like a child, cannot wait for our conversation to end? Fucker head. I was on the verge of tears for how I was treated TWICE in that store, I was about to turn and bark at him again how rude he is but felt the tears might break surface if I did.
I’ve been building stuff with my day since I was a child. I know my way around tools and planning projects. I am a home depot girl.
