Ion Constantin is the last (so far as I know) of the Romanian pole lathe turners capable of turning traditional wooden drinking flasks using techniques unchanged for at least 2000 years. During my 1997 visit Ion demonstrated his home-made hook tools. The partly-turned flask is made from green willow.
