Segmented Bowl

I had a bunch of short pieces of maple, walnut, mahogany and pine plus a couple scraps of some veneer so rather than toss them I made a bowl. I’ve never been better than borderline at sharpening chisels or knives and with all the end grain this was a bear to finish and is still not great. Chisels have to be ultra sharp to avoid bending the wood fibers to a degree that’s impossible to get out. It’s 7 5/8" diameter and 3 1/2" tall with walls about 3/16" thick. Finished with five coats of water-based poly and rubbed with wet or dry #400 and 600 and two grades of pumice and oil and finally rottenstone.
