My assembled planter box project made with Spotted gum boards and Merbau beams; now I just have to apply filler to the gaps in the bevelled board corners (mostly due to board twisting) then sand the filler and apply decking oil to the whole box.
Floor boards are sitting on horizontal beams along the short walls, joined to the uprights with blind mortise + tenon joints.
I’ll also be lining the interior with black plastic with flyscreen over the drainage holes.
If I use decking-grade boards again I won’t do bevelled corners; I suspected I might regret that design decision, but I wanted to see how it’d go, considering I just got a drop-saw that can easily cut bevels!
Also using this practice project as a business case to my wife to let me get an electric planer, electric router and a workbench :-)
