John made this pole lathe from recycled materials – this photo shows him trying out his lathe during a charcoal burn in Gamston Woods, near Retford, Nottinghamshire. John has been a volunteer with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust (NWT) for a number of years, he makes besom brooms and helps NWT with demonstrations.
