and then the music stopped

and then the music stopped

and then the music stopped

the song flitted on the air
like a small bird without a care.
I came to take it all for granted
a mighty oak someone else had planted,
I received rest and life under its branches,
and found the song carried me through the rough patches.
And then the music stopped.
Silence ruled the day
As the bubble of my delusion popped.
