The main Running Shed for the system was at Cooke, and eventually we found this in the middle of the countryside. I went into the office to ask permission to visit and to my surprise discovered that the white drivers didn’t speak English, being Afrikaans! Fortunately the foreman emerged who did, and was very helpful allowing me to take pictures and advising of the operating plan for the rest of the day.
With the system control building behind, R16, Henschel 28688 of 1953, is prepared for duties, 23.05.92.
