The Stephenson Locomotive Society, "Farewell to the Kings Tour" to Swindon, out via the Greenford loop and Southall, where a stop was made, returning via Oxford. While King 4-6-0 6018 King Henry VI stood on the main line the participants were allowed down on to the ballast to visit Southall loco shed.

Class 14xx 0-4-2T 1474 was recorded in the Down yard alongside the Brentford branch. It was allocated to Slough shed at this time but was later transferred to Gloucester from where it was withdrawn in September 1964.

Note the well-known Quaker factory in the background. It was opened in 1939 and was closed in 2015. There are plans to demolish it and build, no doubt overpriced, housing on the site.
