When I was really into woodworking (I built most of the furniture in our house decades ago), one tool that I considered essential was the draw knife. The topic for Macro Mondays is Tools and Utensils, and this being a macro – or in this case, just a close-up – I couldn’t show the whole draw knife, but it has handles on each end, and you pull the knife towards you in order to shave slices of wood from whatever you’re working on. I bought this draw knife at a flea market probably 50 years ago, and it was old and rusty when I paid my $2.00 for it; and during my woodworking era, it saw a lot of use, mainly for rounding off edges. I hate perfectly square, straight lines, which is why I treasure this tool so much.
