The bench top is meant to be about 70×29 inches, made up of ten 2x4s and four 4x4s laid on end and clamped together with threaded rod and nuts.
I didn’t want any green or damp lumber in the bench top, so all the pieces were salvaged from my old lumber pile. I didn’t have enough 2x4s, so I rip cut a couple of big 2×8 joists and even a massive 2×12 that yielded three 2x4s.
