Mersea Island - late medieval house

Judy and I had lunch at one of our very favourite places yesterday – the Company Shed on Mersea Island in Essex. Afterwards we had a short walk along the coast road and came across this beautiful house. According to British Listed Buildings, Smugglers Way is grade II-listed and dates from the late medieval period (1300-1500). It’s an H-plan house, timber-framed and covered in black-painted weatherboard. Although it has been updated over the years it remains one of the oldest buildings in the area.
