Easing up the branch

One of the problems in planning time off from work is before hand you work longer. In four days this week, I’ve done the equivalent of five days work. With the sun shining and Andy Hoare posting an image on my doorstep, but 16:45 today and with the sun shining I had to get out. Three freights were running while I was out.

The Walsall to Dowlow. Having chosen my spot in the sun, just as the train passed an EWS liveried shed passed in the shadow, the fourth bright red box glowing in the sunshine. So I stayed for the following West Thurrock to Earles and then followed it up for the 20s trip up the branch to Hope Cement works.

One downer was just missing a photograph of the elusive kingfisher which whizzed off nearly as soon as I saw it.
