Collins Potato House

The Collins Potato House is located along Road 509 northeast of the intersection of Roads 509 and 510A in the vicinity of Laurel. This one-bay, two-and-a-half story, balloon frame vernacular sweet potato house was built circa 1880. The roof consists of a front-gabled rectangular box with one end chimney located on the west side. The roof is covered in tin panels. The building also has two additions, including lean-to sheds, which forms a t-plan footprint. The west end features a central door in the center of the first floor. A single window is located in the center bay of the second floor. The east front features a window at the attic level. The exterior walls of the building and the additions are covered in metal siding. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
