I realise I haven’t posted any updates on this project since summer 2016, which is kind of bizarre to think about. It’s been a back burner build for the past two years, but with my purchase of an engineering lathe at the end of August 2017 I’ve been teaching myself how to be a successful machinist.
I my lathe and milling machine almost daily, and have been devouring old books and Youtube videos on mechanical and theoretical engineering, machining and metallurgy.
With my new knowledge and equipment I’ve been able to make so many new things, pieces for the DL-44 included, as you can see!
The muzzle is built from 6082-T6 aluminium, and to some extent I’m considering it a prototype. I can see many ways to improve the next version…
