When we arrived at camp this December, we discovered that the hickory tree we were planning to have professionally removed hadn’t waited for us. Our guardian angels or owl totems must have been at work, because the sixteen inch diameter, seventy foot long trunk of the tree nearly missed everything. A direct hit on the cabin, kitchen shed or fire ring would have caused major damage, but it somehow only slightly clipped the corner of the cabin when it broke off in a storm and came down.
