Okay. I give in.
This week, my partner in the Get Pushed!! group (one ~wishiwasanotter~, a.k.a. Mike
– check him out, he’s awesome!) posed a photographic challenge to me that sounded simple enough on the surface.
"Your Push is to take a "Group Jump Shot" , with the entire family involved. Something tells me the JuniorMoons and MrsMoon would be happy to jump through hoops (but that’s not the challenge just yet).
Additional constraints:
Everyone need to smile, I doubt that’ll pose problems!
Everyone facing the camera
Legs tucked up (might need practice)
Arms in the air
Everyone airborne as the shutter clicks
(It can be a silhouette or exposed off the faces, that one’s up to you)"
As you can see, I think I met a mere 10% of this challenge. Sadly, I was unable to interest Mrs SmileMoon in jumping on camera, and the little Moons have a schedule that rivals that of the Secretary of State. Therefore, I was left to fend for myself with mere hours before the deadline to submit a ‘jumping’ photo. So…. off to the garage where the woodshop-slash-photo-studio is located!
What I learned:
– if a photographic challenge is being throw at you, it’s probably a good idea to start preparing early.
– if a photographic challenge is meant specifically for you, it’s usually because a particular skillset needs developing
– just because you see many flickr folks doing jump shots, don’t assume for even a moment that they’re EASY to do
– my workshop is a real mess.
So, Mike. I humbly take my hat off to you. Not only because of the really great photo you took to meet my challenge to you, but because of your very obvious and effortless-looking talents. I will strive to do much better.
And to clean my workshop.
