My homemade lathe’s live center tail stock setup as a taper jig. A rod is pressed into a bearing held into a recess of the tailstock by a washer and screws. The center is raised with furniture shims. Raising the lie center 1/8" above the drive center will result in a taper of 1/4" when shaved with a router.that rides the rails. The slot in the bottom collects dust via a vacuum hookup.
